Trolling motor battery hook up

    I have 1996 Crestliner fish hawk that I completely re-finished, but have left most of the original wiring. It has a 24v system for my trolling motor. I have four wires(2 pos, 2 neg) running from my trolling motor accessory port which are simply attached to my two trolling motor batteries. If I run these batteries in series will it aid in the longevity and power of my batteries, or does it not make a difference?I’ve seen a lot guys run them in series, just wondering if that’s how a guy should do it, what are the benefits. thx for your time.

    big ? is do U have a 12 or 24 volt trolling motor

    It’s a 24v, Minnkota PD 70 US
