Need advice! Blown 150 Mag III.

I blew a piston or more correctly it looks like a ring busted and tore up one cylinder in my 1994 Mariner 150 Mag III.

Everything else seems to be ok. Would it be better to have it rebuilt? Or buy a rebuilt powerhead? Or buy a new motor? Rebuilt motor ? or a used motor?

So far price ranges from 2,500 to 4,000 just to rebuild it. I can get a rebuilt motor for around 5000.

How much is my motor worth as is?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

I personally wouldn’t dump $5K into it……..

I would think that if you shop around, you could find a replacement motor much cheaper or newer for the same money……..

The 5,000 would be for a used motor(rebuilt).

I agree that spending 5,000 to get it fixed is to much.

If I can get it repaired for 2,500,that is probably the route that I will go.
