Little Buddy

Thoughts or experience? My sport cat is worthless as teets on fish. It barely took the edge off in my Frabil Ultra Lite. I was going to get a Coleman Black Cat but Coleman has discontinued all of their heaters. If I could get one really cheap I’d still get one. Now I’m thinking Little buddy. Maybe the Brinkman heater?

Little buddy is pretty worthless in anything but a small 1 man or 2 man flipover on a warm day. Get the regular buddy heater.

I got a Buddy for my Otter this year. I only used it once so not much run time. It didnt blast us out so I think a Big Buddy would work better in the big fish houses. But I like it and dont have plans to buy another. I did experiment with a sunflower that uses 1 lb tanks. They are cheap but work too well. Even on low we couldnt stand it in there and had to turn off much of the time.

I have a little buddy. I’d go with the big buddy! I have to bank my 2 man insulated therm frabill pretty well to stay somewhat warm.

I use the Coleman ProCat, a step up from the sport cat and perfect for a 1 man house. I like it way better than the mid sized buddy.

Like I said, Coleman has quit making heaters, so they’ll be hard to find. The black cat still looks pretty good. I guess if I find a deal I should get the Coleman.

What do you guys do fish in shorts? I have the lil buddy and heat a 2 man clam hub style.

If you don’t mind the size and weight, I would go with the Big Buddy. It’s nice to have that extra heat right away after you get everything set up.

No, a light sweatshirt. The buddy heater is a little buddy when on the low setting. But has the option to be a lot more on those days where its 0ยบ out with a 30mph north wind.

Yes the Black Cats can be found, just not Fleet Farm, Gander or Cabelas and other major stores or their sites. Hoping not to pay shipping. The Ultra Lite is small and I have a heater/cooker to heat my hub so I don’t need anything bigger than maybe 4000 btus. The cooker is too much of a fire hazard in the little bitty 1 man flip. I like to be able to fish with not coat and gloves.

I used my regular buddy (single panel) to heat my thermal Otter Cabin up on LOTW this year in 0 degrees with 20-30 mph winds. Did the trick on just low.

I grabbed a 4-8000 btu Buddy at Menards for $75 with a carrying case. I only wanted the little buddy but for only $15 more I got 2x the heater. Its going to be overkill but I won’t be cold again! Now if I want to, I can fish nekked!

You got a little buddy heater with the option of being more. On low it is just like using a little buddy, but if you ever need it you have the option of a lot more heat. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Exactly. It just made sense, especially when I found it $15 cheaper than everywhere else.
