Wondering anyones thoughts on a Raptor 1750? I am looking at purchasing a new boat sometime in the next year and have been doing my homework. I just sold a 2005 Lund Pro Angler 17′ tiller. Looking to get back to a wheel boat for the family but something that will function as a good walleye boat, take a kicker motor and pull tube on the weekend when the wife and kids want to play. I think I like the layout of these, wondering if anyone is running any Raptors on here and thier thoughts, looking at either a 125 or 150hp. Thanks!

I had a 2009 Raptor 1850 TE with a 150 Verado on the back. I thought the layout was awesome.

I hated that boat so much that I traded it in just 9 months after I bought it. It tracked like a beach ball. I was the wettest ride I have ever owned. I never did plane and run right.

I don’t know if the 1750s had the same issues.

Yes I had heard they were initially wet rides, I believe that in 2011 they changed the hulls and improved that some. Did you have the TE or CE? I heard one or the other rode worse, it seems now it is only one model that is available. Thanks for the response Wade, I have looked at glass too, just it’s all so expensive that I think for me and my checkbook aluminum is the way to go. I am looking at Lunds as well, the Impact would seem to me to be comparable. Wade did you have a kicker mounted on your Raptor?? I plan on doing that as well, just wanted your input on how you set yours up.

I had the TE. Yeah, I see that on the Crestliner Website they just have the “raptor”. Not the TE or CE. I also see they changed the deadrise from 19 degrees to 17 degrees. Interesting. So obviously they did feel it needed to be adjusted. I did not have a kicker. I was going to add one but I dumped the boat before I added the kicker.

I don’t know what the 1750 is going to cost with the 150hp on the back. But I know boats like the Skeeter WX1850 ($32,790) and MX1825 start around 33k and they include some of the gear a guy would add to other boats. Price listed on Skeeter Website in add

    Models starting at:

    $26,272.00 USD MSRP*

*Price does not include dealer prep, freight or optional equipment.

Assuming that is with the 90hp, you are looking at about $31,272 with a 150hp on the back. Then add trolling motor and batteries and you are up to the 33k for a Skeeter.

I am seriously not trying to push Skeeter on you. I just was blown away when I started looking at pricing and realized how close glass and tin really were.

The only drawback I see in the 1750 Raptor is the cockpit space for the family. I run a 1750 Fishhawk and to fix the cockpit space on my boat I moved the back 2 seats to the rear deck over the livewell. It was just to cramped to have 4 seats on posts in the cockpit. I think they offer a stern bench in the 1750 but I’m not sure. Best bet is to find a dealer with one on the floor and take the family to see how full it feels with everybody in it. The 1750 with a 150 would be an awesome boat.

Sounds like you need a Alumacraft with the fold up back seats. My Trohpy is the boat you are looking for, but you can not have it. Go buy your own……

I bought a new Skeeter MX1825 last year & priced it against a Lund Pro V and the Skeeter was the same price. Had an 1800 Pro V b/4 the Skeeter and no comparison to ride and dryness. Just more info for you. Just to confuse ya.

Thanks for all the information guys. I am still looking at options. The Skeeter WX1850 with the jump seats looks great as well, just not sure I can convince the wife that is what we “need”…….I sure think I need it! Any other options out there? I have looked some at the Triton Allure, but can’t seem to find much on them and when price shopping I think the Skeeters are comparable……..one this is for sure prices just seem to keep on going up!

Stratos has some very nice boats that seem to give alot of bang for the buck.
