One that can handle large fish, I have been looking at the retractable nets but I am sceptical of the long term durability. Any feed back would be great!

    Bill,

I had a Frabil with a retractable handle and the Power Yoke. It worked well until I bent it landing a 58 pound flathead.

I then went to a Beckman which was super strong, but the handle didn’t collapse short enough which made it awkward in my boat.

Last year I went back to a Frabil. The 32″ X 41″ POWERCATCH® 48″ SLIDE TANGLE FREE WEIGHTED NYLON.

The Power Yoke does two things for me. When I’m alone I can put my foot in the net, pull on the handle and it locks into place. The other is the handle slides through the Power Yoke and makes the net shorter for storage (above deck).

The only thing I would recommend with the Frabils is to put some loctite on the two Power Yoke screws. They have a tendency to vibrate loose and fall out at the worst time.

    Good luck.

PS the Hyber net is awesome for channel cats and other small fish.

I have a ranger tour series and it’s built like a tank and in the USA. I think I got mine from tacklewarehouse.com for about $50.

Collapses completely and also has an extendable handle.

I got the big Frabil Hybernet for a gift. My only concern is the weight. Seems a little heavy. Should be able to handle some big fish though.

Get it over with and buy the best. Buy a Beckman.

I’ve been looking too, but not sure why. My 20+ year old U.S.A. made Ranger has done everything it’s been asked to do. It’s a fixed handle, light weight, and handled some monster carp. I can hold it out with my left arm without it feeling like it’s going to break it off. It was also inexpensive, guess I’ll quit looking. Thanks for the wake up
