Just finished mounting mine up on the bow, well nearly. I ran my wires and thought to myself, I’d better fuse this thing. So my question is, since the transducer came with no directions, how many amp fuse should I run? I figured anything under 9 would be fine, but I’m just assuming off the battery it came with. I have no idea the actual draw the unit runs off.

I read back through my manual and didn’t find anything. I would email Marcum support for their recommendation.

Alright, thanks. I’ll be sure to report what their response is. I can’t be the only one running these in the open water.

I checked my the HDS in my counsel and seen a 3 amp, I thought about trying that, but figured I’d ask around a bit before I went to far, I have another day to blow before I actually need it.

Shure would be nice to hook this up to the universal sonar built in to minn kota’s. Then could mount in front without worry about damage. How sturdy does the set-up look? Any pics assuming you have on trolling motor? Thinking mine will be mounted on transome just hoping they make a way to hook it up to the trolling motor sonar.

I agree, I used to run my vex off the universal sonar, not too impressed with running a cable up the shaft, but I’m thinking it’ll be nice enough to have drifting, vertical jigging, etc that I’ll deal with it.

I bought the universal dual beam ducer, not the high speed. I already have a HDS in the counsel and I really don’t need two high speed units. They come with a kit that mounts to the trolling motors drive unit via a hose clamp.

Mine is out in the cold shed 50 yards away, but I found this picture online.

There supposedly is a universal sonar cable coming out this spring for the LX series.

What is the word on this James? I haven’t seen it on the Marcum site yet.

Thanks for pic. That is different than the one i had seen doesn’t hag down as far as i thought. I have been hanging mine over the side for the last year and so far this year. works very well for vertical jigging and slow three way trolling.

The problem with running the marcum off the humminbird/minkota universal sonar is the number and quality of the crystals in the transducer. Marcum uses two high quality crystals one for each beam. The universal sonar transducer runs one low frequency beam and another high frequency beam through one crystal. Don,t mean to start a fight, but part of Marcums quality in performance and higher price is the investment in their transducers.

Cord is a pain, but manageable, definitely works wonders. Slammed some early ice out perch pretty dang good with it yesterday.
