If you’re tinking about a new trolling motor, might I suggest a MinnKota with both the autopilot and copilot features. After 30 years guiding with the ol’ Evinrude and similar cable controlled foot operated motors I finally saw the light. The autopilot ( which steers you via magnetic compass heading) is great for working a shoreline. The copilot is greater than great…ya just strap the thing on your wrist or on the reel and control from anyplace in the boat. A real plus for two anglers when one is running the troller via conventional means and gets hooked up, snagged, etc….the other angler can take control with the remote and keep fishing. In a nutshell the MinnKota with these features is the Cat’s Patooty ! i feel like somebody who has been beating his head against the wall for 30 years, ’cause it feels so good when ya stop !

I’ll also give the Co-Pilot the 2 . Handy little addition to the Auto-Pilot and Power Drive trolling motors.

Same here. There aren’t a whole of of gadgets that I would say “I can’t believe I ever fished without this thing,” but COPILOT is definetly one of them.

As a side note… after trying the remote on a lanyard around my neck, on my rod and on my wrist, I’ve decided that I like it on the wrist of my casting hand. How about you?

I like mine on my left wrist, since I’m right handed, I think I’m a bit backwards though, I both cast and reel with my right hand, never thought anything of it til someone mentioned that it was weird.
