I need to get my son a rain suit, I know a number of you here use Frogg Toggs. Now that they have been around for a while how are they? Water Proof, durability? I have looked at them and they are made of a odd material. I am taking him to Canada this year for the first time, so I want him to be comfortable.

    Thanks KLH

I love mine they are 100% breathable so on those hot days you will be comfortable & they also make a good wind breaker. Best of all they do keep you dry in the rain.

I will be the naysayer on this rainsuit. For sure I don’t like it as a rain outfit for trout fishing. Even though it breathes it is hot, and not much relief as the sleeves are elastic. I tore the pants the very first time out on a piece of barb wire. I don’t even carry them in the boat. I use a regular rainsuit that cost about a hundred bucks. I would put another 20 to 30 bucks together and get your son a real rain suit.
    Just my two cents worth.

Well, ya can’t please everyone but I haven’t found a rainsuit yet that is preferred “hot day” attire or able to stand up to barbed wire. The toggs will catch on really sharp objects fairly easy because of their porous construction. But, I finally HAD to use mine over this past blustery weekend and I’m telling you what…. I’ll keep them with me ALWAYS as they’re FAR better than a Sterns “bread bag”, light weight, guard VERY well from wind, but not cold water. You need to dress appropriately underneath them, which I did, and I was completely satisfied with them.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in them guys as I have a pair but have never worn them yet as I bought them from HOF over the winter. I have guidewear plus a lighter weight outfit from Gander but needed something that is light weight for when it is 80-90 degrees outside and raining. The other rain suits are great for cooler than 80-90 degrees out but when its ”hot” who wants a heavy rain suit on. So far every IDA person that has them has really liked them and from what everyone says they should be great rain gear. Thanks, Bill
