So who is using them and what do you think? There is a reply or two in the “Supreme VS president” thread about them, which got me curious. If they are a little more quality than the president at only $20 more I might have to give them a try!

Good luck finding any reviews. Think only a good full season will be able to give review. Too new for that it reminds me of trying to find anything about st.Croix rage rods, nada.

That’s why I asked here. Some guys here put more fish on the reels in a month than a lot of guys do in 2 years.

Any info is appreciated, even if you only fished it once. Are they noticeably smoother than the president? Better drag? Whats your conclusion thus far?

How long have they been around in your parts BC I believe they didn’t show up in the GM stores and Cabelas mid winter here.

Don’t have any places that stock new reels around here. [censored] has a few pfluegers but that’s about it (mostly clamshell ones). GM doesn’t have anything except their own brand and one or two OLD pfluegers or shimanos. So I haven’t seen them in person yet.

I found a few online for $69.99 which is not a bad price at all if they are as good as pflueger’s description makes them out to be. Just need someone who has one in hand to let me know their opinion. Someone out there has to have gotten one and used it on the river or something.

I was following that other thread and am curious on this one too. I need two replacement reels and the Purist may fit the bill for one of them.

I’m a little confused by what Cabela’s puts on for line capacity for the different reels. For example Cabela’s has the Purist 1340 series at 195 yards for 10lb. Pflueger’s site has the same capacity but for 12lb. Who to believe?

Makes it tougher to do online orders with conflicting specs.

HA I was just looking at the same thing and came here to post it. Looking at a picture of the actual box off an ebay listing, the 40 is Line Capacity: 260yds/8lb * 195yds/10lb * 175yds/12lb

I usually use 20-25 series reels but the purist only holds 115yd of #4 (more like a 10-15 series). I’d have to get a 30.

When I was out browsing last week I was looking at reels. I was thinking of buy the President until I picked up the Purist. I tried both reels side by side. In my opinion there was a significant difference. It reeled smother and just felt good. I didn’t know anything about them or how the price was but after doing a little research I am going to go back and buy one.

Sorry I don’t have a on the water review for you but ask me and a few weeks and I will.

As for real size 1335 is about the same size as a 25 series.

Two me the President is a little heavy so I’m hoping this 1 is lighter – the reel looks great

Love the color and it looks like no glare points

the President is a sharp reel – sold mine due to glare and the weight

Right now I see the President for 40 and this one for 60

Great price I think on either one Might B in store only

    Got to see a 1325X & a 1330X one in person – might B a must have

Sure is hard keeping Cabala’s bucks

I bit the bullet and ordered one. Doesn’t matter much to me if it’s three weeks or twelve. Still hardwater season and I have the lucky opportunity to get married in May.

Might get a late start to open water this year

Well got one at the sportshow this year and waited till I got some sufficient time into fishing with the reel, and I like it. Longevity is the big factor so can’t speak to that and only time will tell but as far as how solid and smooth the reel is compared to the President which I also own, is nicer. Bail closes easier than my pres. and haven’t had any issues with that, and the drag is what gets my attention. That initial pull of the line on most reels that initiates the drag is what loses some fish IMO and with the purist it really is much smoother than the pres. Bottom line if I have an extra $20 I would upgrade in the future, but of course that is if the reel holds up over time. Side snagged a 13# northern in the river today that gave the drag a huge run for the money and I like it!
