Trolling with outriggers

Has anyone used outriggers for pulling plugs with or without lead core?
I am considering planer boards and a mast system vs outriggers. Or should I just use 14 ft trolling rods and be done with it?

My $.02 is for inline boards such as church or off shore brands.
On Mille Lacs I sometimes will use 10′ rods with 5′ shortys but only if it is too windy to fish boards.
The 10′ are a different beast to fish with, I dont mind but I am skeptical of a 14″. To me it seems like a lot but Im sure some like them.

I have long rods and have used in-line planers. This year to get 6 rods going with 3 people in the boat either in SoDak or down on P4 I’m going to make a Planer Mast. I think it’ll make more sincefor the 6 rod times. when running 3 or last year 4 out in SoDak in-line planers worked just fine and are easy to set up as long as you have the rod holders. Thats my $0.02
