    warranty center for Minnkota.

Received word from a very reliable source that the Motor Clinic in Bloomington MN is no longer doing warranty work for Minnkota.

Although I haven’t been there for years, the Motor Clinic’s reputation has always stood high in customer service.

    It’s a loss for Minnkota.

From the way I heard it—-pretty much from the horses mouth—- they will still be working on Minnkota just not warranty work. Anyone that has dealt with Motor Clinic knows they have about every Minnkota part in existence and their service is second to none so this is a black eye for Minnkota.

I can agree with redneck I’ve gone there three times and the cs was great. Will continue going. That is bad idea for minkota .

IMHO warranty service or not, best place for repairs not only on electric motors but THE go to place for Vexilar service. But then, like me, all my stuff is so old warranty work is only a dim memory jerr

You know, I hear nothing but good things about them, but I went once with a problem with my Terrova foot pedal, and the guy I talked to was rude and not helpful at all.

I been there about five times, for parts, replacement and trade ins. Everytime they have been very awesome to work with.

Maybe it was because I have Motorguide….

What a bummer. These guys do fantastic work and I’ve sent quite a few people there way who all have said the same thing.

I was even planning on dropping off my 101 lb Terrova early next week for some warranty work.

Anyone know who’s taking care of the warranty work for Minn Kota in replace of Motor Clinic?

In western Wisconsin I have dealt with Scheels in EauClaire for in and out of warranty work and they have all ways been good.

I heard that Motor Clinic is referring people to Dan’s Southside Marine for Minnkota warranty work issues.

My first choice would be Fish-Lectronics up on University Ave. Been there, had pretty fair results. Not near as good as the Motor Clinic, but adequate for what I’ve needed. Dan’s welllll jerr

Not going there! Skeeter Boat Center is always a good time. Aren’t they an authorized Minnkota service center?

Purely speculation on my part. Maybe it was Motor Clinic who dropped Minnkota. Many times these manufactures dictate the labor rate for warranty repairs. Shops can’t even break even in some cases. So maybe the Clinic decided to drop warranty work for Minnkota. I’m guessing they will work on Minnkota products out of warranty and still sell parts.

I didn’t mean to imply one way or another, just that they aren’t doing warranty work and that it’s a loss to Minnkota.

I would think they would still repair anything they could.

Maybe someone could call and get clarification.

Oh Gawd! I would rather not have a trolling motor (and I use it for pretty much everythig) than give that place business. That guy is a turd…

Well it seems to make sense, a little, to me… Last time I was there to have some work done, they were sketchy IMHO when dealing with Minn kota and warranty, I ended up calling and talking to Minn Kota and it was no problem to get my motor covered, they however they made it seem like it major deal to deal with Minn Kota, and were suprised when I informed them I talked to Minn Kota and then My warranty work still cost me a $100, I can’t quite put my finger why exactly it just didn’t fully feel right, I could’ve maybe argued more about my case, but I just paid the money and went on with it.

I also long ago cracked the housing that holds the gears and steering stuff, I asked several places, them included, and everyone said I had to replace the whole gearbox, gears and all, Called Minn Kota, they sold me the housing, I did all the work myself, and it cost me like $20. I’ve also replaced boards for a fraction of the cost, not to knock these places, but there’s a lot of things you can do yourself. (replacing the shaft isn’t one in “my” book )

That being said the work was top notch. Overall I’d probably go back, but the thought lingers.

Honestly there isn’t a lot of work to do on the trolling motors that I don’t think most people couldn’t handle.

Fish Lectronics on University has been great for me. I busted the shaft on my terrova a couple years ago. I was in a antic because I was going to Canada the weekend after it happened. I called motor clinc because they had always been awesome. Especially at keeping my pinpoint working. They told me to come on in. I got there and they said they couldn’t fix a universal sonar model that quickly and it would not be converted by warranty. So,etching just didn’t feel right and I left ith my busted motor and wrnt to Fish Lectronics. They did not have the part either, but said they could get it quickly and get me back on the water. They got it done in two days and it was covered under warranty.

I suspect motor clinic doesn’t like minn Kota warranty rates. I will stick with Fish Lectronics for my repairs. In or out of warranty.
