So I’m in Gander yesterday during the the rain squall(sp?) looking for a new drift sock. I chose the product by Drift Control, you know the bright blue ones with the orange bouy kit. I chose the one that said 50″ size. Well, being that I don’t pay much attention to the details, I assume this meant a 50″ diameter opening. Wrong, it’s about a 25″ diameter opening, 50″ circumference. So to my problem. I’m running a 1750 fishawk. The sock seems really small looking at in the garage. I’m concerned it won’t slow me down enough.

What do guys/gals with this size of boat run?

the 20″ model is rated for boats up to 20′. the 50″ model might slow you down almost to a stop. is yours the adjustable one or the fixed end model? if you have the adjustable model you shouldn’t have to worry about it.

It’s the fixed model. My last one was way bigger, probably double the size, that’s why I’m concerned. I guess I’ll find out this weekend. I kept the receipt and the box in case it just doesn’t slow me down enough.

Lesson #1, never give waterfowler wiskey after having a case of beer in him. I’m glad I could provide some humor on a weekend when the fishing wasn’t the top subject.

He went up to Mille Lacs with me for opener and I threatened to bring zip-loc bags with everyone’s name on them to put their shoes in!!

So much for me using the trip swap forum ever again. Oh, the things our “friends” do to us.
