Looking at reels for my new Xtreme 6’10” rod. Im mostly going to be pitching jigs and some blades too.

Would you go with the 1000 or 2500 sized Ci4? Im probably going to spool up with suffix 832, and looking for a light and sensitive set up.

I’ve got the 1000’s on my 69MXF and 70MLF Xtreme pitching rods and I think they balance out great with the smaller 1000 series reels.

Plus with the thin diameter of braid you really don’t need to go with anything larger than the 1000 series spools in my opinion, provided the rod balances out.

shimano CI4 in 2500 cause larger spool line really comes off the reel very smoothly when making long casts, even more with the 832. OR Pflueger Supreme XTin the 9235 size. Both light reels with great drags and large spools for better casting.

Can’t go wrong with either one!

I personally wish they would not have stopped making the 1500 size. I have an older Sahara 1500 and it’s golden for what you’re talking about. Wipers, walleyes, crappies, it works well for all for me.
In the Pfluegers I really like the 25 size, but 30 works too if I have to go that way.

the old shimano symetre 2000s were an awesome all around size reel. When they stopped makin those sizes and changed some of there reels i went to pflueger spinning reels and love em.
As cal stated the 9235 supreme xt is a sweet light reel. Awesome drag and rolls off like butter. Did have my first one break right away from a weak point in the magnesium on the bail wire mount, but they replaced it right away. Went out and bought a couple more a few weeks later I liked it so much.

Awesome. I never even considered the Pflueger. Are there other light reels I should be looking at too?
