Need new tires! Chevy 2500 HD

I’m looking for recommendations on an A/T tire for my 2007 Chevy 2500HD. Size is 265/70/17.

My head has been spinning in circles the last few days talking with local tire places and reading review after review on tirerack.com. One person tells you the tire is the best and the next tells you it is terrible. Who do I trust?

I am looking for an all around tire that will drive quietly, perform off-road in the mud and snow and pull a 5th wheel camper.

I’m replacing the factory Bridgestone Duravis M700, with which I am less than impressed. I bought the truck used with 35,000 miles and it now has just over 50,000 miles. The tires should have been replaced as soon as I bought it because they’ve been terrible in any off-road situation.

    What would you recommend?

For the last 400,000 to 430,000 miles, between my current truck and previous, I’ve ran Michelin LTX A/Ts and the M/S. The M/S is more Highway and a lot quieter. Either way, both have performed outstanding for me. I think the warranty is 70K but I’ve gotten over 80K per set with reasonable use. Plus I’ve thrown the used sausage skinned tires on my trailers and hay wagon at the farm and they are still going strong.

I put Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts on my 2005 Yukon. I think they are the same size as yours. I have had them for 2.5 years and approximately 50k miles and am happy with them. Tread still looks good and I don’t get stuck in a few inches of snow on the lake anymore.

Michelin MS truck tires. M = mud s = snow. Should last you 80k. Quiet and very good snow traction.

Good Year Wrangler with the Kevlar. Had them on the 3/4ton GMC I had and they were excellent. They are spendy but well worth the money I thought. Make sure you get the E load tires. Some sales guys will try to talk you into D’s. You don’t want to sacrifice your safety pulling your camper

Over 40 on my set on the 2500 diesel. I will buy these tires again.

I’ve been happy with the General Grabber HTS that I put on my Sequoia a few years back. Looks like they make an E-rated tire that would fit your truck. Mine have been wearing well, are quiet on the road, winter traction has been good, and they’re quite a bit cheaper (were, at least) than Michelins.

Stay away from the Firestone A/T, had put 4 new ones on my Silverado replacing my factory Goodyear’s, I never got stuck with the Goodyear’s on the lake. With the firestones I got stuck 5 times the first year plus my stopping distance went way up, just look at the new yellow sign in front of West Winds resort cost me a grand for that.

I agree with the Michelins! 80,000 miles. Had 3 sets now, my new truck came with them on , made me very happy to see them.

Your 3/4 ton should not use the same tires as a 1/2 ton. Usually a higher ply count is better.

I ordered the Michelin LTX A/T 2. It feels much better hearing recommendations from you guys.

    Thanks!

I just got a set of Michelin LTX M/S2 on the Tahoe and they are the best tires I’ve ever put on. Expensive but worth every penny.

BFG’s All Terrain TA/KO…only got 10k so far and this is my first set, but no complaints so far. Great traction and minimal road noise considering the aggressive tread pattern. Have friends who have used them religiously and have gotten 70-80k depending on use and truck size.

I forgot to mention this, but assumed most remember to rotate! I run my synthetic oil about 9K miles. When i change oil, swing by the tire shop and get my lifetime rotation done. Worth the extra $10.00 or 15 I paid when I buy tires. It does make a difference!

Hell yea rotate. Makes them last a lot longer. I run my synthetic 5k, change the filter/add a quart, then run it another 3k. Been doing that for many years on many vehicles and it seems to be a good program.

I paid the $15/tire for the lifetime rotations and free flat repairs!

I’ve been running Khumo’s for over 10 years on cars and full size Blazer and Yukon with great experience on and off road. Excellent mileage on them and decent price.
