Hey guys looking at doing some boat upgrades before the spring. Just wondering if I am understanding this correct. The new I pilot is only for use with humminbird units correct? If so any plans to make it compatabke with lowrance hds? Thanks for the help guys

The I Link will only work with HB but the US will still work with Lowrance… Since the same company owns both MK and HB dont look for lowrance capatibility….Guess some of us wont be buying into that feature…

Thanks for the replies guys. Well that stinks. I just realized they are owned by the same company. So it sounds like either buy a humminbird unit or do without the I pilot link correct?

Correct, I know I won’t be trading my HDS for HB anytime soon…

Well I’m just starting out with high end electronics. I have a lowrance x125 now thats going bad. I have heard humminbird is more beginer friendly than a hds but I don’t know. I think that I pilot link is a bunch of technology I would never use anyways. Thanks again for the help

HDS is easy to run plus the graphing is much easier to read than on the HB and also ability to upgrade to SI/DI sonic hub radar ect later if you wish…

    Hi guys,
Below is a link to a Bass Boat Central thread that chats about the new I Pilot Link. It combines the features of the new HB unique Lake Master chips, Ethernet capable HB sonar boxes, and Minn Kota trolling motors (Terrova or Power Drive V2) into an integrated system. I myself can hardly to update my boat with this new technology.

    Here is the thread:

You guys can decide for yourselves.

PS: You with NEVER see this capability on a LOW.

    Take care,
    Roger

I had Lowrance for years, including HDS. A year ago I switched to Humminbird, and couldn’t be happier with the switch. I find the Humminbird 1198c to be much more accurate and easier to use. I have the Minnkota Terrova with IPilot, and I’ll be upgrading to the IPilot Link and Lakemaster V4 very soon. I can hardly wait until the water turns soft!

If you want the I-pilot capabilities, and connect your Lowrance to it for use of the built in sonar you can by a Terrova with I-pilot. If you want to buy the Ipilot link system and have the motor “interact” with the locator and map software, Then you have to go Humminbird.
