    Well,
I’m a proud owner of the new Strike Master Honda Lite Power Auger… I am excited about this auger on how light it is, how smooth and quiet it is…

    I have a couple of questions though…
It comes with the 8″ bit and that is a bit large for most of my fishing applications.. Back waters of the Mississippi pan fish I have mostly used a 6″ Lazer… I sent SM an e-mail on Friday and got a reply Saturday morning that I can order a 5″ bit or 6″ bit for this auger…

A question I have is how many of you use a 5″ hole for the pan fish? I know I have sen some holes out there smaller then my 6″.. I’m just curious how you guys like the 5″..

Another question I have with the 4 stroke is how fast is this auger compared to the Lazer Mag I had with the Solo Motor.. I’m betting with a 5″ bit I should be able to plow thru the ice

Don’t think you should have any problems with a 5″ auger. I ice fish the backwaters about 4-5 days sometimes more every week and I have even went to a 4 1/2 inch nils hand auger because of the weight, ease and speed of drilling with a nils hand auger. Before that had a 5″ lazer and have pulled 14″ crappies and 9″-10″ gills threw both holes. Smaller auger really makes a difference.

I just pulled my new Strikemaster Honda 4-stroke out of the box and stuck it together, can’t wait to give it a whirl. Also, just curious as to why you would prefer a smaller hole? I use an 8″ for almost every application, from local panfish and walleye to Ontario lake trout and Manitoba sumo walleyes.

I fish a lot of water no more then 5 feet deep and the light glare thru the hole keeps them a little spooked sometimes..

I have a 5 inch hand auger and fish hole for me is just fine. The only thing that I can think of is if you have camera sometimes you have to use your scoop to tilt the camera to get it back up the hole. If you get real thick ice it could be a problem.
