Where to get Leaf Springs for Trailer

Took my boat with me this morning hoping to get out for a little fishing after work. Those hopes were quickly dashed when I broke a leaf spring on my trailer crossing some train tracks. Luckily I was only a block from work but now the trailer is crippled and sitting in our parking lot.

Where’s a good place to find replacements? The trailer is a Spartan, around 1983. Double-eye spring, 4-leaf, approx 24″ eye-to-eye.

    Thanks for any help!

Check with Kraemer Spring on Hwy. 110 in Inver Grove Heights. They are down between the car dealers.

Count the number of leaves, if it’s a double eye, measure between the eye centers or if it’s a slipper, measure the over-all-length. If Kraemer doesn’t have it look for your closest Northern Tool store, they also have a good supply of trailer equipment jerr

Thanks guys! I ended up jury-rigging it so I could limp home. The thought of swapping out a spring in the work parking lot did not sound apppealing.

Got everything apart and have exact measurements (23 1/8″ center-eye to center-eye) and will give Kremer a call first since they are just up the road. Plan on replacing both with HD 4-leaf springs.

Be careful with the load rating.
If you go to high above what you need.
You will find it hard on electronics and equipment in the boat as it will tend to bounce the trailer more.
