Hey guys. I am looking for a little advise on fishing nets. I am in need of a new one and I want it to be a good one. I manly fish walleyes and maybe a walleye tourny here or there. Thinking a 6 footer would be the best length but after that I am kinda lost. Just wondering what brands/models you guys use.

I’m not even sure what brand mine is but it’s nice and heavy duty. I like it because it expands to around 12′ which is really nice when trolling or can be used shorter other times.

Anything by Beckman is the way to go. I recommend the 4 + 3 extension handle on whichever hoop you decide. 4′ is great for corkin or short bait rigs and 7′ is great for trolling or longer bait rigs. The coho/walleye is a dandy. Don’t get sticker shock, they will last you your life.

I added a 6 + 3 handle that I can interchange, I like it when trolling LC and for salmon/lakers on Superior.

BECKMAN by far i use a 6’+3′ extension and it is sweet. especially great for trolling or netting walleyes while anchored in moderate or heavy current where getting them real close to the boat is not easy. totally worth the money i got mine used from a tournament fisherman off the internet for $60 so there are deals to be found.

I use the same extension in my boat;Love it! I don’t fish current, but run 4 lines most of the time ,either pulling plugs or spinners, the length of the net saves alot of tangles and as previosly posted this net will last a long time, mine is 5 years old and I’m on the water 3-5 days a week from April till November.

I have a Stowmaster net I have been using for years. It is awesome, folds up and fits in the front compartment of my 620 with no problem. It is so not having a net flopping around while your running and really nice being able to have it out but folded up and out of the way. When you need it, flop it open and pull the handle and your ready to go in about 3 seconds.

The net is I believe 7 years old and the basket and frame are still in perfect shape.

This sounds awesome. Where did you get it?

I almost never carry a net because it’s just one more thing to be stepping on or getting tangled up in. Yeah, I know, but unlike a lot of guys these days I’m not fishing out of a 20 foot, 2 bedroom, 3 bath boat with a sauna and a walk in tackle closet.

Beckman was my 1st choice, but I did not like the bulky handle so I decided on a Frabil.I mainly fish Walleye too!see link >> frabil net

The big bulky handle is the best! You know the beast is not going to bend or break. They are built to last forever.

Here’s one you might want to consider as well. We weren’t thrilled with the net mesh becasue it tends to tangle up hooks but the telescoping ability on the fly is really cool and very useful.

Thanks guys. Where is the best place to get a beckman? I am in mankato and I went to grander and sheels and they don’t have them. Thanks again for all your input.

I bought my last one from Beckman. Looks like Lindy bought them but you can still buy direct.
