I have have read a few posts where they were pulling flicker shads with good results.

What is your favorite flicker shad color ?

Mine are .. GREEN GHOST,FIRETIGER,RAINBOW TROUT,PURPLE CHARTREUSE PEARL all in a #7, not necessarily in that order but those colors have worked best for me or the boat I have been in.

I’ve had really good luck with chart pearl on the WI River. I decided that i’m no longer going to buy flicker shads due to all the tuning issues I have with them. They do catch fish though when you can get them to run true.

    Blue tiger
    Black Gold Sunset
    Black Gold
    Firetiger
Red tiger (or hot firetiger. Can’t remember what it specifically is named)

Those are my top five, but the first two have accounted for the vast majority of my big fish on Lake Wisconsin.

Yes, they have tuning issues, but to me, it is worth the headache as they really work well for me.

I’m going with the same colors as John.

As for the tuning issues, I’ve seen this before. (can you say ripshad?)

One thing about these type of lures, they’re made to run erratically intentionally. Left, then right, then back the other way again. This style of crank bait presents a tuning problem for many people. The payoff is, during certain times of the year, this erratic action pays off big time!

When tuning, if you can get it to run both directions, your golden! But don’t plan on trolling at 3-1/2 mph with them. Use a regular shad rap for speed trolling as they will track better at high speeds.

Erratic running crank baits all seem to have this issue and many people give up on them for that reason. So much the better for the rest of us.

Seems to be different colors do really well in different fisheries. In one place I do well with Scheel’s colors, but those colors are replaced by BPS and Fleet Farm colors on another body of water. Anyone else experience this?

I found the same thing but not only with Flickers shads but with all other cranks and it only makes sense due to other areas water clarity and bait fish.
