1989 Yamaha 30hp water pump probs

    A couple months ago I had my water pump rebuilt at a Yamaha Certified dealer. I have run the motor approx. 20 hrs. and was on a trip recently and the water pump quit peeing or is peeing very little….the motor became hot so I shut it off. The water intake cover on the lower unit had come off…do you think something it plugging the water pump?

    Yes

    Use an air compressor and see if you can blow anything out. Shoot it through the system backwards though, so you dont just lodge it in there farther.

    B BK; For clarification…are you saying to hook up air compressor to the rubber line that leads to the area where the water pees out and simply blow the air in reverse or towards the water intake area?
