Well another stretch up at Mille Lacs solo until the weekend gives me to much time to think so I thought I would post a tip about using your I-pilot and spot lock at the boat launch while running solo. This may have already been posted but could not find anything.

Im sure I am not the only one that does not like to rub your boat on a dock or at a busy launch likes to be in and out and out of the way. Well give it a try next time when you launch your boat, drop the bow mount and motor it off to the side 30-40 yards and hit spot lock. Go park your truck and when you get back to the dock just pick yourself up!

BTW leadcore walleyes were on a terror this morning! Targeting walleyes 25-27 feet down over 34 FOW.

Yup, I was doing that last year when I first got it. Works real well at a busy ramp. I had people who didn’t believe I was controlling it.

Brilliant! What is the range of the remote? It would be a bit embarassing to see it motor away out of range,…..

I know I won’t try it with a co pilot.

Just an idea, lets say what if, your buddy has an ipilot on his boat, and you’re both out fishing in separate boats…

I just went outside to test that and not sure on the total range but paced out 80 yards and could still control it so it is atleast that. This was with the boat on the trailer on land so I would think it would even get more range on water…

Does spot lock stay on out of range? Like taking the remote with to park the truck?

yes, once it locks it is interneal in the head of the motor and it will stay locked until another manual function is done.

That was the only part I was worried about. 80 yards? I’ll take it!! That’s a long ways away from a dock for sure. Good to know I can feel safe at 30-40 yards.

I’ve tried it with mine and at about 100′ it seemed to start loosing signal.
