Would a 55 terrova have enough power and enough battery for a day of fisihing or should i go with the 80? I plan to get it with i-pilot and will probably use the spot lock pitching shorelines and for verticle jigging and dragging. It will be on a crestliner 1600 fishhawk. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks!

    can’t lose with the 80.

greater question is which shaft to buy…

Better get an 80. Depending on what a full day equates to for you (to me it is 12-15+ hours) a 55 might be enough but probably not. I love my 80 terrova, it lasts all day with juice to spare.

You will never complain about having to much power and battery life…

    Go with the 80

Get the 80, I have a 55 powerdrive and it works ok but wouldn’t go that route again. Battery life isn’t great and find myself wanting more quite often. I would also get a bit longer shaft than you need, you could always run the collar higher

I have a 55 lb Terrova on a 16′ Sylvan Backtroller. My answer is, “depends on use”. A lot of river use, I would say go bigger. Lake use, I think my 55 lb is great plenty 98% of the time. Granted, I don’t fish 12+ hours a day, but it has never run down on me in 8 hours.
I agree that bigger is better, but for the price difference in motors as well as finding a place for another battery and the cost of another battery, I am happy with the 55 lb in my situation.
