The 7′ medium action (TRS70MF) has served me well for many years. I use this for most techniques (rigging, jigging, slip bobbering) and many species (walleye/sauger and small/large mouth).
Unless I am trolling, I’m sure 90% of the time I am holding one of these.
Dean at Dean’s Tackle Box can have one to you pretty quickly.
I have a Triumph from a few years back and it is a fine rod for the price. personally I would get the Eyecon 6’8″ MXF instead for $30 more.

X2 more sensitive than the Triumph series
I second what fish any time stated. I own several Triumphs, they are all a great rod for the money, the seven footer is probably the best all around rod out there. I personally favor the med. lite action for dragging jigs and pitching blades.
Give Dean a call at Deans Tackle Box, he can put you with the right rod for your needs and your budget
I have triumph and eyecon and prefer the eyecon. much more sensitive. i use the big ones for trolling, the 7’0″ for casting…
Get the Limit Creek Smoothie. Hands down the best rod under $100 and my preferred rod up to the $300 rods easily. Love them, it’s all I use.
I have a Triumph, and I love it, I also have a fenwick, to me it is a toss up between the two. If you decide on the Triumph i don’t think you will be dissapointed.

They use the same graphite.
The Triumph will serve you well. My first, second and third St Croix Rods were Triumphs. I now own Eyecons and Tournament Legends, but I still use the Triumphs. They fish well and hold-up well. You can’t go wrong.

You are correct Trav but the design and tapers are not the same. The Eyecons have faster/thinner tip sections as in the MXFs and MLXFs…

I bought a medium Limit Creek and a carp or something broke the tip off on the river. Reminds me I need to have the bait shop fix it as where I bought it closed up. Since a dang fish broke it I don’t think I would recommend one.

I’ve had horrible luck with my Smoothies. I bought two, both broke, and both have been returned. Found out after I returned them from two young guys at the bait shop where I bought the rods that they called them Cripple Creek Rods because of how many broke about 6″ down from the tip for no reason what so ever. Clearly there’s a design issue that needs to be fixed. I would recommend the St. Croix rods or a Shimano with a LIFE TIME warranty at that price range.
Thanks everyone. i just picked up a 6’6″ med-light action triumph and already love it. cant wait to go fishing.
From what I recall, the Triumphs are very similar to the Premiers except that the labor is outsourced, so you’re getting a Chinese-made rod rather than one from Wisconsin.
I could be wrong, but that is what I recall.
I have one. It’s a pretty decent rod for the money.

Yup that’s my current favorite rod, although I do believe in going with the mojo bass rod next, for the extra fast tip, and I’d like to buy like 4 of them and right them all different so I don’t keep fishing one technique longer than I should just because I like that rod. (This was done great advice given to me from the one and only Dean, and he’s totally right, I know I’ve done that in the past.
