1993 6-hp Evinrude-What’s it worth?

    All:

In addition to my bow mount trolling motor, I am thinking of getting a small kicker outboard for fishing the wingdams and for use on some of the local lakes that have motor restrictions.

I was checking out the ads in the paper and someone is selling a 1993 6-hp Evinrude that seemed to fit the bill. The dude selling it said it starts easy and is in good condition; he’s also willing to let me run it in the water b4 selling it. He wants $600 for it, which is a lot nicer than forking over 2-3 times that much for a new kicker. Does anyone know if 1993 was a “good” or “bad” year and have any idea on what this motor might be really worth in good condition? Is there a blue-book guide for outboard motors?

The NADA is a good guide but if you look in the papers, it’s quite often $100 per hp on smaller motors. ’93, depending on use, isn’t very old. According to the guide, he’s way off but in market check, he’s about average. If it’s a low hours used motor, it’s still a boat load cheaper than a new one and an “ok” price.

Thanks for the input guys. I will need to get a closer look at the engine, but at least this gives me some numbers to toss around. I hear what you say about it being worth more if its in really good shape. I more just wanted some idea of what these things can go for.
