I am looking to add a livewell to my 14 ft boat. I am starting to fish bass tournaments and am in need of one.. Do You think i should go with the cooler route and set a cooler up with a pump or do I go and get an actual livewell and put that in my boat. Any thoughts or idea’s would be great. Thanks in advance!

You are the only one that can come up with the answer. It depends on the room you have in your boat. Just remember to make the right decission. Good luck!!

i was in a similar situation about a year ago. I was disappointed with the variety of premade options and had one custom bent. I did pick the wrong side on my boat for placement. Remember it’s going to be a LOT of weight, so place it with that in mind. good luck. remember: none of htis is permanent. none of us get out alive.

I would recommend just getting a big cooler and buying an aerator that can connect to your battery. That way when you don’t want to keep fish, you don’t bring it in and aren’t sacrificing the space. If you put a permanent one in, you would either have you boat listing over when it is full or you will be taking up some valuable floor space.

    Just my two cents.

I currently use a cooler in my boat for tournaments. It works really well but make sure you have a frozen water bottle so the water stays cool. Just buy an airator for gander.

I’d go with the cooler set up. I use a cooler rigged with a spray bar to keep gills lively for flathead fishing and it works great. As mention, I carry a couple frozen Gatorade bottles to throw in to keep the water cool. I have to believe this would work just fine for keeping Bass on the frisky side until weigh in.
Having a 14ft boat myself, I think a livewell would take up more room than the cooler and become a pain in the butt.
