Curious if anyone has ever done this to their boat trailer?
Did it work well? Was it easy?

Doing a little research for my brother as a possibility to gain back some garage space!

Interesting. I never knew a product like that existed. At first the way it attaches scares me since they are usually welded but if it works, it works. Seems like a sweet idea.

Yeah I’ve done 3 of them. That’s a good price. I’d recommend a saws all, sharp drill bits with oil, a large corded drill, watch out for the wires, drill the holes in 3 steps, and hang on to that extra rubber stopper they give you, those wear out.

I thought that too at first, but once you do all that drilling and all those bolts with locktite you see it’s not going anywhere.

I did it to mine a few years ago and have been 100% happy with it. I think I made a post detailing the process. I will look for that.

I did mine a couple of years ago with that same product. It’s a little nerve racking cutting off the tongue but I have been 100% satisfied and my boat fits in the garage now. You might have to splice all of the wires – I did. I have a 17′ aluminum boat. If I had more weight I’d probably look into something else. When I was doing the research I spoke with Crystal Welding about this. They used to use a kit product, he was reluctant to tell me which but I assumed the Fulton, and had problems with them coming back warped. They now make their own custom swing tongues. I’d use them if I was pulling more weight.

I need a longer tongue, so ordered and installed the fold away. Works great.

    Cool –

This is for a 16.5 Aluminum, so the weight is not really a huge issue.

Glad to hear this product works.

    Thanks for the link Ryan!

Now I’ll have to see how much assistance I’m going to have to provide

Mine is a 16′ tin boat. I have had it on there since 2008, and it is still rock solid.
