What is the next best rain-gear to Cabelas “Guidewear”?

Would love to buy the “Guidewear”, but can’t justify that much money. What is the best for the buck out there. Are there any users of the Scheels rain-gear?

I had a 400$ Cabelas Guidewear Goretex suit and it was wonderful but not for hot weather. The cheaper stuff will not hold up to sitting in the rain all day. I got the higher quality TechH2O from Gander Mt(I am on the water a lot, rain or shine), It has been excellent so far. Jacket 99$, Bibs 89$(probably cheaper when on sale!)
Otherwise check out Helly Hansen rainsuits(Cabela’s)

I don’t have a clue. I plan to use my $40 in Cabelas bucks to get another set of bibs.

Cabela’s Signature series rainwear…..It has almost the same outside shell of the guidewear, yet about $100 cheaper. I have had mine for about 5 years now, and I would not trade them for the best of some other brand.

For cold weather I have a Columbia Quad Parka and bibs, they are spendy but I stay warm & dry. They also serve a dual purpose if you are a duck hunter, hunting & fishing.

For warm weather I have Frog Toggs.

I was at Gander today and noticed the Tech2O is on sale. Save $30.00 for the complete get-up!

I have looked at the Frog Toggs but just can’t believe the stuff works. Looks like paper towel and feels like dried wet naps. Is it good stuff? Durable?

Just to touch on your question about Frogg Toggs. I have had a number of clients with me fishing in the pouring rain for 8 hours in Gore tex and Omni tech and whatever else is out there and at the end of the day I am usually the one that is dry. I do wear my Colombia rain wear when it is cold out but above 50 degrees I stay bone dry in my Frogg Toggs and durability has been great. I have had numerous clients return the next year with the Frogg Toggs and are very happy they bought them. I dont know how they work but they do!!

I love my Pro Rainer I have had them for over ten years and show no wear spots and for hard rains and running at high speeds everyone I have told about this suit have had no complaints. The Pro Rainer channel jacket and bibs [all blue only] about $120.00.The hood is so sweet for high speeds.

Guide wear is the way to go for me in the cooler temps. When the temps are above 60’s I love my Frogg Toggs

I wanted to see how this thread played out. I have Guide Wear, Stearns, Frogg Toggs, and a handfull of others…. I’ll go out on a limb and rank the Helly Hansons at the top of the pile for the money. If you want to spend $400 on the Guide Wear, it’s money well spent. But for half that price the HH kick butt!

The toggs are as ugly as a mud fence but really do work very well. Warm weather only gear in my opinion but bone dry and very light weight. My set has only seen light duty use to be honest so I can’t comment on long-term durability.

I wear my Frogg Toggs in all weather conditions. From over snow suit to shorts an tee in summer. Don’t go anywear without them. I gave my first pair to my son they are 4 years old and look like a dirty shop rag but are still working. I bought a new pair in camo to wear warm weather duck hunting. They also have good customer service a friend ripped the crotch out of a pair and they shipped him a new pair no questions asked.

I just spent the last 1.5 hours fishing in the pouring rain. My TechH20 kept me dry as can be.

I have Gander Mountain Tech H20 bibs and parka and they keep me dry in the rain, are comfortable, durable, and seem to be very breathable. I would recommend them ecspecially if they are on sale. Thanks

consider one of the other Cabelas brands. Their rainy river series has worked well for 6 years and are cheaper

I was going to make a post similar to this but looks like the tech h20 at gander is a good buy?? I was looking at them today- do they keep you dry in a driving rain and keep the wind out while running? How about “breathability”. thanks. Anyone use the Bassmaster suit from bps? 100 mph? I dont really want to spend 400 bucks either, but i also dont want to spend 200 and be wet!

Frogg Toggs – light, breathable, and very effective who cares what they look like as long as you are dry, comfortable, and fishing
