Anyone have any Info about a 2000 Mercury 150 HP EFI Motor. Looking at a boat that has this motor on it. I am not the biggest Mercury Fan – Have had 2 on boats in the past – lots of Problems. Just looking to some general Info. Good or bad. Thanks in advance for all Info.

    Good motor IMHO.
Harder on fuel than an Opti.
    Little maintenance needed.
    Always starts.
Jon Jordan has run 1 or 2 of these. I think it was 4k rpms was the sweet spot for optimal fuel economy.

if you’re serious about it, you might consider taking it to a marine shop and having them inspect it, you’ll pay for it of course..

I had a little older merc 150 EFI. It was actually a very good motor. Like said above, not the easiest on fuel. The only problem I ever had with it was a cracked oil line. That was mostly due to age. $10 later I was back up and running.

The Merc 150 EFI are good motors. Same block that has been used forever on the old XR4, XR6 carbed models. Just updated to EFI fuel and oil injection systems. I’d have a compression test done on it. If it passes, I’d have no problem running that motor.
Wide open at 6k rpms, that baby will suck the gas/oil. Keep it at 4K or so and actually gets pretty good mileage.

I run 200 efi and like Jon says, keep the RPMs in the sweet spot and it is a great motor.

One of the best motors Mercury ever made. That thing is bullet proof!

I have the 225 EFI. Always starts, always runs strong – fast!!!

    Smokey on the cold mornings….

However, it sucks the fuel – very thirsty….
