I-pilot or structure scan?

If you had the choice between adding I-pilot to your exisitng TM or structure scan to your existing HDS5 & 7 set-up, which would you do first?

After rebate on the SS they both are roughly $450 each. I would like to add one or the other this year and add the other next year as the amount of $ already spent on the boat this year is quite high.

    Thanks,

    Del

I vote for I-Pilot just because I have one and really enjoy fishing with it. It’s like having someone eles driving for you IMHO

This is kind of a tough one. I have a bird 998 and the I-Pilot. I think you should go with the Structure Scan. The SS will help you find fish/structure. The I-Pilot will help you stay on the fish. Either way you are winning!

I have an ipilot but not SS. I believe SS will give you a edge over the ipilot when it comes to catching fish… but the ipilot will make catching the fish much more relaxing. What’s more important to you when on the water?

How do you fish the most?
What new methods are you going to try?

I-Pilot. I didn’t finish reading your question before I made my decision.

I to would say it’s not even a competiton. I’ve been running side imaging for almost 3 yeas now. It’s nice but I have never been as impressed, blown away, excited about my side imaging as I was mere days after I started using the I-Pilot.

I would go with iPilot hands down as well. It has helped me put more fish in the boat than my 998 with SI. They are both great, but if you have a depth finder that had a good map chip and 2D sonar you can see if there are fish below and you can navigate the river safely.

I’ve been having fun with my Ipilot. Was out in 15-20 mph winds and having fun positioning exactly where I wanted to be and pointing the nose of the boat where I wanted to go despite the direction of the wind. Anchored the boat in the current and set a path across the river following the front edge of a hole and let the motor take me back and forth along the hole while I fished. Do you have a Gen2 HDS–if not, don’t waste your time with the SS until you do so that you can get the most out of it.

I have both. Love my structure scan but would say i-pilot if I had to pick between the two.

came to this crossroad last spring. update my electronics or put on a new terrova with ipilot. i choose I-pilot. Best decision I hae ever made. The waters that I fish I kind of know what areas to fish and the structure there. so making my fishing day easier ended up being a no brainer. In my opinion boat control is 75% of the game and SS won’t help you with that. That being said next spring I will have a complete electronics upgrade with SI.
