The President I own has treated me well, but the Arbor has me intrigued. Should I stick with what I know is a great reel, or try out an Arbor?

Both great reels. Been using the Presidents for the last couple of years and was happy with them. Picked up a few Arbors this spring from Deans tackle box and they are great to.

I have never ran the Arbor myself. I have a pair of presidents and last spring I bought a President XT. I like the XT better myself. Im not sure if the President still has the wood crank grip but I really dislike how slippery it is and the shape of it is odd for me too. On more than one occasion it slipped out of my fingers.

I really do like the Prez XT and will be buying another when the time comes.

I have both Ryan and for me, it depends on what you are doing with them. I have the Arbor on my pitching rod and President on my vertical jigging rod. I am very happy with each.

I agree. The Arbor is a great casting reel. I have one with a new spool of 832 ghost and it casts a mile with very little effort.

I vote arbor. I’ve got 2 of them and 3 presidents both are great reels but the arbor is light years ahead IMHO. I love the arbors and will be buying more in the future.

The Arbor is a big step up from the President IMHO…

Lighter smoother, and is a dream with Flouro and Braid, especially in cold weather…

I have a half dozen of the Arbors. Have not used a president.I really like the arbor (I wouldn’t have that many if I didn’t), but the one complaint I have is with the way the bail is configured. The little bend in the bail tends to catch the line and it doesn’t end up on the bail roller. When that happens and you set the hook, the bail opens enough for the line to slide through and you miss the fish. I try to coach people in my boat to always make sure the line gets on the roller, but people don’t always pay attention as well as they should.

The new model president has a rubber handle and a braid ready spool. The Supreme XT is pretty nice, as well.

The Arbors have the same thing. Both very nice features on these reels. Extra spools are nice to.
