Brakes

Minor problem, but one that has been annoying me for too long. Last summer, I had the brakes on my Sequoia replaced (new pads and rotors). Ever since, they squeak like crazy when I back out of my garage. As soon as I am off and driving, the squeak goes away. It just occurs during that initial, slow movement. Otherwise, they function normally. Any ideas to get that to go away, or should I just live with it?

My mom just had to get her brakes worked on that had been replaced recently. Apparently there was air in the one brake line causeing the brake to rub constantly and it was completely burned up. So maybe you just need to try bleeding your lines for starters.

No idea if that could be why yours squeek, but hopefully somebody else will chime in.

They did not put break lube behind the pads, There is a lube that you put on the back side of the pad where the caliper pushes against the pad.

It could be the pads with the high metal content in some of the better pads the brakes will actually rust a tad just from sitting a short time.

My Sierra has squeaked since I drove it off the lot under those barely moving, barely pressing the brake pedal for the first time. Drives me nutz! Especially while crawling a field deer hunting, the brakes pick up a little moisture and I am sure I scare anything away within a mile or two.

I have had warped rotors twice, front brakes had one pad worn down almost to metal so I had to replace all of them. The others were still 90% life. I tried to get dealer to warranty the work and was denied. My Silverado never made any brake noise what so ever. I was told my calipers were sticking because of my off roading during hunting season and not cleaning the undercarriage well enough. Bunch of bull.

I was told the same thing about my rear brakes on my silverado. They also said it made them wear out faster since the calipers were sticking? They also said Chevy was going back to drums for the rear brakes.
