Well, bit the bullet and upgraded from the 1600 to the 4800. I have heard rumor the installation directions miss a very important step regarding the wiring process. Can anyone elaborate? And yes, the 1600 is for sale.

Sorry, I have the info on my other computer.. but your full service, free shipping, no tax outside of IA, best deal in town…Wade from Jolly Ann Marine and Outdoors has it. I’m sure he’ll have a post for you after dinner.

My memory is going…but it didn’t tell you to connect the GPS antena to power… but I don’t remember what color the were. Old age you know…

I havent heard anything. One thing you want to watch out for is the resister plug. You will see what looks like a plug on the end of the GPS line. It looks like some kind of cap cover that can be taken off. DO NOT try to pry it off. It doesnt come off. Your GPS cord will be shot if you take that cap off.

    Briank,

That is exactly what I heard and the info I am looking for. If you could oblige, that would be great! Now that you are on a roll, what is my old 1600 worth (I do not have any of the software download equipment for it………).

Lowrance has added the addendum to their website:

    GPS install info

Brian, I have your beautiful graphic around here somewhere…

Man…that was a lot of words to say…Hook the red to red and black to black! I think I’m going to sell my picture to Lowrance.

Dr Hook, you are asking the wrong guy about prices. You might want to check out what they are going for on e-bay? Or if you want to move it fast try putting it for sale on IDA…for best offer. Be warned…we are a tight bunch here!

    Good luck!

Thanks for help guys! Briank, feel free to send me your diagram….the Lowrance addendum is somewhat confusing!

I’ll look at putting the 1600 up for sale here on the site. I found the hardcover case with all of the download accessories too.
