Merc 90hp waterjacket leak

    Has anyone ever replaced the waterjacket gasket on thier Merc. I was getting the ladybugs of of mine today. After about 5 minutes of running, I had about a thimble full of water in the bottom of the cowling.

    Looks pretty straight forward…10 or so bolts…but looks can be misleading

    Anyone with experinace in this area?

    I had a 4 cylinder classic that I put 3 head gaskets in. I was told that it was a common problem with them? its important to put the proper torque on the head bolts. Contact your local mechanic.

    I cracked the head off of an older motor just to see. It was as straight forward as it seems. Like the other guy said, don’t strip out a bolthole. No sealant on them either, that could lead to bad things.
