outboard motor mounting

Putting a different motor on my 95 Pro Angler Lund. The current motor is in the second to lowest mounting holes. The cavitation plate is about an inch above the v-bottom of the hull with the trim down. Is there certain way to mount the motor for hieght or just start there and see how it performs. Also do I need a special marine grade sealant on the bolts or is any 100% silicone sealant ok. TIA

Make sure to torque the bolts to the correct amount also.
