Marine Radio Antenna Question

I am currently running a Shakespeare PHASE III 6225 6dB Gain Antenna. The top 5″ of the fiberglass got snapped off so the last 5″ are just dangling there like a limp noodle. Is there anything special about the wires in those last 5″ of the antenna or can I snip it off at the break and make that the terminal end of my antenna?

If you snip off the end the end of antenna, your standing wave will be all wrong,and eventually burn up the finals in your radio. cheaper to get new antenna than radio.

YES, do NOT snip the wires?? If the wires are intact or can be reconnected (less preferable, but will work) you can fiber wrap the antenna with the same resins/fabric that you’d use for any fiberglass repair. Sand smooth, repaint. almost like new.BTDI
