Can I use the fresh water flush to purge out the water after fishing with low pressure air? I can heat my garage when doing this

I’ve heard of people simply blowing into the water tube to get the water out of the system. I suppose you’d want to wipe the hose connection clean first!

Can if you want to, but if it was me, I’d raise the motor up about 3/4 height lower it all the way a few times and then let it hang straight down when you’re done. Don’t forget to raise it back up before you move it tho- -jerr

What Jerr said. In addition, I run my motor for 5-8 seconds when in the down position.

What Jerr said but I never run my motor when out of the water. In my opinion there is no need and why put extra wear and tear on the water pump. Once a winter season may not bother the water pump, 15-20 times a season takes a toll.

    Just my two cents

I can see spinning the pump a bit to get the rest of the water out, but my thought would be to pull the kill switch and just turn the motor over a couple times to clear the impeller fwiw my .02- -jerr

Impeller is wet still. Wouldn’t think it would cause any harm…

The rubber in the impeller is a very tight fit against the out side edge, and gets tighter from centrifical force when started. Friction on rubber does not take long to build heat. When the impeller is moved again next time the outboard is started the rubber impeller may stick a tad and pull rubber off the impeller.

    Just my opinion

That’s what I do.I spun it over once after doing that, and did not see anymore water come out. Most outboards should be self-draining,right?
