Ice Suit for a bigger than average guy

I know I’m probably going to get some grief on this one but since I have heard James mention in a show or two that he is about average size for my family I’m looking for a little help.

I’m 6’9″ about 275 and my Columbia waterfowl system which has served as my do everything cold weather gear for about 15 years has about had it. Zippers are shot and my son borrowed the bibs and pulled them off over his creepers and ripped up the lining. So its time to replace and with the season winding down I am wondering about what other folks in the +size realm have done.

I’m thinking of one of the ice suits or if maybe going back to a parka/bibs kind of deal with camo so save on purchasing camo come next fall. Unfortunately Columbia seems to have done away with the gear I have, at least in my size and the price of what they do offer has approached that of a house payment.

So any suggestions for some good gear which has the length in the sleeves and legs?

    Thanks

That’s a tough one. The long legs and arms are what’s going to get ya. You can probably find suits with that length but you’ll probably end up with a ton of room in the mid section.

I’d be willing to bet that the new Cabelas Goretex ice suit would come in a size for you.

    Chris,

    Now there is an understatement.

They don’t make stuff in bigfoot size… Seriously though I’d email Frabil your dimmensions and when they stop laughing, see about a an FXE snosuit for icefishing. If you get the bibs you can make the straps longer. I live in my snosuit from December until April. Get something else for hunting in camo. Then ask them if they have a shack with 9 feet of headroom..

    Kev,
Some how I figured you would chime in. Good suggestion, we’ll see what Frabill has to say.
