Humminbird and Lowrance GPS question

Please forgive my ignorance, I’m new to GPS combo units and have a question.

Are there any units made by Humminbird or Lowrance that will save the map data from a Navionics chip right onto the unit itself, so that you can take the chip out and use it in another unit, while still having the maps on the first unit?

I know that some units are offered with built in maps.

    Thanks

Nope, the closest thing I can think of is Structure Map from Lowrance you can record and convert the bottom view save it to a SD card and transfer that card to another Gen 2 Lowrance unit, but it won’t show/record the actual contour lines form a mapping card.

The Navionics chips are plug-n-play chips, so you can’t share info from them. Just the way they work.

You can, however, save your waypoints and data that you enter into your unit and transfer that info from unit to unit with the help of SD cards.

Sounds good, thanks guys. Now I need to find a unit for a good price. I just missed the sale Cabelas had on the HDS-7 before they all sold out. I see they have the Humminbird 788 for $469, but I don’t really know what’s better about that unit than any other 5 inch screen combo.

That’s pretty much SOP for those guys.
