Got out ice fishing for the first time today and decided to fire up my new to me LX-3. The bottom shows up great 3.5 feet of water start setting tip downs and cant see the minnows no biggie getthe stuff set up for me and the kids and start jigging no jig shows up on the screen even after adjusting gain so i put down the ol’ depth finder and jig with that to see if it shows up which it does sporadic even with the gain on 10. Is this problem from being in to shallow of water? never had this problem with my vexilar

It should not be a problem to see your jig in shallow water as long and the transducer is raised as high as possible and positioned in the middle of the ice hole. Make sure to drop your jig right under the transducer. I was able to see gill pills these last few days while fishing 3-4fow with no troubles using the LX-5, your LX-3 should perform the same.

Make sure you’re using the shallow water cable.

    Bret’s advice is golden….
At 3.5 ft your cone angle is VERY narrow..

And to go along with that small cone area if your minnow is swimming around even just a little bit it will swim in and out of the cone area
