I rig five basic rods when fishing river walleye/sauger.
    1) PS56MF…..vert blades w/braid…6925 President XT
    2) XS63MXF….vert jig w/braid or mono…4730 Arbor
    3) LTWS68MXF..casting 1/4-3/8 jigs mono
    4) XS69MLXF…casting small blades/jigs w/braid…4730 Arbor
    5) LE70MLF….casting/dragging 1/16-1/4 jigs w/mono or braid

I ran Quantum PTi 20 Catalysts on the LTWS 68 and LE 70 last season but found them a little heavy. They are great reels and I switched them over to my Bass spin rods. I would LOVE to buy a couple Patriarchs or Stradic C14s but my budget is looking more like Supreme XTs or Shimano Saros for a smooth long casting reel.(or maybe just a couple more Arbors?)
Looking for some experienced opinions on a quality light weight, smooth, long casting reel for under $150 ea.

Cabelas.com still has some of the old model Stradic’s in the 1000 or 2500 for $119.99 in the Bargain Cave. There not the C14’s but a fantastic reel at a great price. Wish I could afford to pick up another one now.

I’m a big fan of the shimano Sahara reels. My mono rods are set up with the 2500 size model. One heck of a reel for $80 retail.

Scheels has the older stradic 1000 for 99.00. Can’t beat that price.

I picked the Saros because its the only Shimano model I know of that comes with a spare spool. I like the ability to change line type/weight on any of my rigs.

    Search “pflueger Patriach” on Ebay.
I just bought a new Pflueger Patriach on Ebay for about $140 with free shipping.
The seller’s Ebay ID is “unitedoutdoors” or somehting like that. I think he still have a few of them available.

These criteria had me buy Arbor 7430 last Spring…
    weight – 8.5 ounces, I think
casting – wide spool and less line memory too
    price – $79
    durability – smooth drag too
spare spool – one is braid ready

All that put together and I can’t find a better reel…yet.

A few weeks back,Cabela’s had the Stradic 2500FIs for 99.99.They do come with a matching spare spool, but the C14s do not I did not see a whole lot of difference between the FHs and FIs.At that price,I’m surprised any are left, the new FJs went up in price(40.00).I wanted to try the Pluegers, but found good prices on the Stradics.

I have had the same Sahara for about 7 years and it still works awesome. I think I got it on sale for $50. I would really have a hard time spending more than $80 on a spinning reel when that sahara seems bullet proof.

Have you looked at the Lew’s? The baitcasters have great reviews from what I’ve seen, the spinning reels might be pretty good too. They also have a wide arbor spool reel… Lews spinning reel

If it is purely a Walleye rod, casting and jigging braid/mono, I’d opt for the 9530. If you throw fluorocarbon into the mix then I would go 9535 for the bigger spool. Even the 9535 is insanely light ar 8.5oz

Yes it is…I read the 7540 weight in error…

That is incredibly light weight! Almost makes a guy look at a new Extreme to match up with!
