Any body ever use these baits. They look great. I am just wondering if I need to add some to my box. What size have you used? Thanks again.

I was in on a side-by-side comparison of the pre-rigged (jig inside) Wildeye and the Northland Mimic Minnow for Smallmouth last summer. The Mimic out fished the Wildeye soundly. My observations were the hook looks to heavy for light line and the baits weren’t running true because the jig body and hook weren’t centered properly in the bait. This is a sample of 1 so keep that in mind. They do look good.

i have a whole slug of the storm plastics. I am going to combine some of them with the knucle ball jigs from fin tec and see how they work for me this summer. I am seeing that for the price, I am hoping that they will produce, otherwise i will get the told you so from the wife. I wanted to get some different ones, but she picked them out for me for xmas presents, so gotta use them.

I will let you know how they work with the knuckleball jigs.

    thanks

I think the Wildeyes are the ones with the hook and weight already inside the plastic lure. They look great and do produce fish but another fit I have is they remove all flexibility of your immediate situation. You can take a grub and put any weight jighead to it so you get the proper falling speed or depth needed on any given day. In a calm water where tossing a weighted plastic and burning it back to the boat is productive technique, they’re fine but like riverfan pointed out, they’re not the best thing since sliced bread.

Riverfan…………. have you tried the Gitzit Paddle Fry lures? They’re somewhat adaptable to other “minnow jig” heads and allow me to vary the weights if necessary. Last spring, if it was a fish, it was chasing that lure!!! It cooled off around mid-summer and I didn’t even try them in the fall because they’re smaller lures than I tend to go with in the fall. There are other minnow jigs out there that are larger if I want to go to them but I haven’t tried the Northland Mimic Minnow yet. They come in a couple of sizes but this presentation really limits what can be executed compared to the traditional jig and plastic combo.
