I’m thinking of putting the electronic line counter on my next 7000 C3. Does anyone have one? Any problems? Worth the $50?
Thanks!

Brian, I think Ryan Hale uses one, or did. Last fall we were chatting with Scott Reed of Berkley/Pure fishing, discussing the electronic line counter reels. If Ryan doesn’t reply here you might send him a PM.
BTW, have you had a chance to get on the water with the LMS 480 yet?
Only when it rains in the garage. I was out of town for the most of the last two weeks. I’m waiting for the darn gray Ice to head south on the croix…looks like anytime. I’ll be happy to say to that for a few months!
Itchen to go fishen!
Briank,
I heard alot of feedback on these line counter reels last year. The 1 bad thing that I heard on them was battery and connection point. Not alot of negatives but a few anyway.Sometimes guys would think they would have a dead battery and go buy a new one and still have problems with the electronic features. It seemed the battery was not making the right connection to make it work as it should. That being said-I used 1 all season last year and never had a single problem with it.I just loved the line counter feature with these reels. Here are a few neat things you can do.
You can calibrate different lines,# test, and how full your spool is to get very accurate readings. Also they have a back lit feature for night trolling.
Ryan Hale
Thanks Ryan, that’s good enough for me!
Too bad that Wade guy doesn’t sell this type of electronics.

Speaking of rain, it literally rained ALL day here and is still sprinkling now. I went out and nabbed a few dozen night crawlers. Yes, I know it’s Saturday night and yes, I am a loser! But maybe tomorrow this loser will finally get to do some fishin’!
For about $75 or $80 you can pick up a Daiwa Sealine. Just a few dollars more and you get anouther reel. Im sure you need one of those. B day present for the wife.
Thanks Mike and BFH.
That is the problem Mike….wife’s birthday. I have a 7000 already and if I get a less expensive reel for my wife….well she will spent a day thinking what this means…eventually coming to the conclusion that she’s not worth as much to me.
Maybe if I just told her the Diawa was twice the price….Naw Bowfinhummer would tell on me.

Mike, does the Diawa have a bait clicker?
Brian, yes the Diawa has a bait clicker
Mealy worm (aka brink)
Are you telling me your finally gonna let your wife upgrade from your old 1974 Zebco 22 mismounted on that Cherrywood Spinning rod.
Wow you know how to wooo the babes.
See ya,
Bowfin
BFH, you almost had it right. It was a Johnson Country Mile, mounted on the old Cherry wood rod. I think it was a ’79 or ’81 model. She’s been good to me this year, and I wanted to reward her right.
As you (should) know, they don’t like appliances for birthdays ect.
I’m thinking the line counter will tell me how far the cat ran before it spooled me…oopps…her. What else would you use a line counter for?
