I noticed this last weekend the floor on my utility trailer is shot so am I going to replace it. What should I use the trailer is a 5 X 8 metal trailer with a ramp on the back. It currently has 2 pieces of plywood, but I am thinking of using decking — what size decking would I use?

It also has a rail about 18-20″ from the floor and to close that up, what would you use?

Any advice on what you have done or seen done that works or to stay away from I would greatly appreciate it.

    Discount Steel – Aluminum.

Get yourself a custom piece of diamond plate for the floor.

Previous experience tells me to redeck with the same thickness of material that you are removing. Plywood will be your cheapest/easiest option, for both the floor as well as to enclose the sides.

If you decide to use 5/4 deck boards, make sure you have enough clearance at the rear for the ramp to function properly. Use 8′ boards.
