I am looking at building my 19yr old daughter a new rod and like to pair it up with a Pflueger reel,it will be used for a multi species rod.

Has anyone used one of these? 4730GX

I’m a big fan of Pflueger reels myself. I’d look into the President or better models though

I agree with Trav. If you are building an above average rod put an above average reel on it. Sounds like a special gift for your daughter.

I’ve had one for years. Decent reel, but I have a President, too, and it is waaaaaaaaaaay better. I would not put a Trion on a nice rod like you make.

I bought Nicole a couple Trion combos a few years back. Never been impressed. Nicole uses my good gear and hasn’t touched the Trions in 2 years. I say buy a president grade reel or better.

I’ve become a big fan of Pflueger in the last few years…love my Supremes on my walleye rods. Have to agree, if you’re building a better than average rod, but a good reel on it.
Thanks Tom, for the new website!

Not trying to go against the grain, but I’ve tried a few Pfleugers and am not so impressed… They are OK, not great. I will be going back to the Shimano lines from now on. Shimano makes one heck of a great line of reels.
