What kind of rod? Most tips are glued on. Heat it up with a lighter and pull it off. Most tackle stores sell glue and tips.
It’s a Fenwick Techna AV and appeares to be wrapped on as well. That’s the problem.
Looks like threads. I messaged Fenwick for options at the suggestion of Gander Mountain since they did not have the correct size tip.
Give Joe’s a call. They replaced a tip for me a few weeks ago that appeared to be wrapped. They only charged me $4.00 parts and labor and they did it while I waited. They sell a lot of Fenwicks so I’m sure they’ll be able to fix your tip.
Also, talk to Roger Rucci if he’s available. He has a wealth of information on Pool 2. He says walleye/sauger fishing was actually much better about 15 years ago than it is today.
That rod has a lifetime wattanty. Fenwick should replace or fix it for free. You may be able to take it to the place of purchase for an immediate exchange.
Good Luck.

Well, Boone is right on. (Funny we posted at the same time.) I just got off the phone with Roger. He said if the rod was purchased there, he would probably just swap it out for a new one. Joe’s is the #1 Fenwick dealer in the upper USA and like to keep the customers happy.
Got the rod through a back door connection so direct replacement is not an option unless Fenwick offers it.
It’s not that big of a deal so depending on what Fenwick says I will probably just buy a tip and glue somewhere and fix it myself without wrap.
Suzuki,
We could take a road trip to Marine on the St. Croix and visit Steve Peck……Maybe stop for a cold one along the way.
Sandbar
Ssshhhhhhh. I thought that was our little secret! If people find out they can get a custom built Legend Elite with hand crafted walnut handle and their choice of guides and guide wrap color for a fraction of the store cost they’ll start sending us private messages! Having your name laquered on the rod and a custom inlay picture of your choice on the handle is just wrong. I just stripped off the line and cleaned mine last night. A ‘work of art’ is putting it mildly. I’m still a little afraid to fish with it. If people knew how much better hardwood conducts vibration over cork it would be all over. Better edit the name out of your message. Quick.
A taste. 6′ 3″ ML. Made from a Legend Elite seconds blank although you would never know. Emerald green blank with matching thread on the best guides. $150 a couple years ago. Sandbar got gold guides with light wood handle. We call his the pimp rod. Both are Absolutely beautiful. Serious works of art but way cheaper than store bought.
Private message me if you have questions. I’m not comfortable posting such a small source in the wide open.
I suggest everyone with a slew of rods purchase one of those rod tip sizers card. You than can than order rod tips from Cabelas that are of a quality equal to what your rod guides are. Buy a small assortment. Get some of the glue and do your own.
Mike I’m right with you on the hardwood handles. I have both Loomis and legend rods with ebony and walnut handles made by Jerry “Preacher” Gyldervand. the feel is great! Use one of Jerry’s rods with 2/12 Powerpro and you can feel fish breathe on a jig.
On your next trip though Hastings stop at Hastings Outdoors.
Rand does a good job on repairing tips.
$2 or $3?
Thanks guys. Good idea on buying assorted tips. I have so many rods.
