Just got it out of the basement (storage) and put it on the boat and took it down to the lake to test it out. started on first pull but noticed a slick. Got home and took off the cowel and noticed gas smell. Pumped the gas ball and saw gas leaking from a metal square 2″x 2″ on the direct middle back othe motor. Any ideas? Planned on fishing on Tuesday need to get it fixed/

Sounds like it might be a vacuum operated diaphram fuel pump. Does the incoming gas line come to it and then exit to the carb? If so fuel pump and rubber diaphram has a hole in it…

You can probably buy a rebuild kit (fairly inexpensive) a new pump would probably be $100-$130…Don’t ask how I know.

Easy to replace yourself. be sure to bring your motor information (serial number, etc) when purchasing parts.
