To make a 24 volt system (negative to positive and positive to negative) for the last wire to get a pretty good spark. These are 2 brand new batteries and fully charged for a 24 volt trolling motor. I actually melted the flat washer system that was used from the last batteries when I attached them. If it is not normal, what might be going on?
only hook up one neg to one pos. the others neg and pos is to hook up the trolling motor if that is the application. you hook pos to neg and pos to neg you could blow up the battery

Thanks guys. I had a spare wire that was left in the bottom of the battery area in the boat and wasn’t sure if I was supposed to use. Thanks for saving me from bigger problems.
