Rod Covers (and a vendor Analysis)

Compare These Two Vendors (rod covers):
I had purchased a Rod Slick in the past and appreciated what it did for my rod storage. When I went to purchase more, my local dealer had quit selling them. I went on-line, and discovered StickJackets.
Based on their web site, I ordered 5. Upon receipt, I discovered they were the wrong models. I emailed the company; I did say I was disappointed with how the web site directed me to select items.
What happened after that I have to share, both with Stick Jacket and with Rod Slicks.

The owner of Stickjacket suggested sending them back. I responded I simply wanted the correct product, as I had subsequently seen their ad in Musky Hunter and found out more on the internet (including that they had products for musky rods). We exchanged more emails and he became quite sarcastic in the emails and basically refused to provide any customer service — you’d think he’d want to sell his product and generate good will. Just the opposite. His responses were so negative I simply decided to not fight someone of that nature. (if you’d like to see the email exchange, message or email me and I will share it with you.)

So, even though Rod Slicks wasn’t available in any dealer in the state, I emailed them. Here’s their response:
    Hi Thomas:
You can call the number below. We will be able to help you order the Rod Slicks or whatever it is that you need. You would pay the retail price along with shipping. Do keep in mind, we are at the end of this season, so we might be out of stock too. Just clarify that we do have stock before you order. Thanks again for your Business, we do appreciate it.
    Sincerely,

    Customer Service

So, if you are considering these types of products, I’d suggest you take into account how each firm treats their customer. These types of devices do a great job of protecting your rod, they make it so easy to take your rod in and out of a storage area as nothing gets hung up and they are very slick.
You can email me at [email protected] if you’d want all the emails between both vendors, to verify/validate this information.
Thank you, Rod Slicks, for your wonderful customer service!

These are the ones I use and love them. Enough room to get your rod in without fighting them. And you can just run to Fleet Farm to get them.

So you’re saying you didn’t return the original items you bought, but you expected the company to go ahead and replace them without getting the originals back first?

Tacklewarehouse.com has the Stick Jackets, and a few other models of rod covers. I would much rather order from them than directly from the company, TW has great customer service.
Have you ever looked at The Rod Glove? They have those at TW and I was thinking about getting a few.

Give Gregg a call at Skeeter Boat Center. They stock some there.
