Engle 2×2 air pump repair

I had an engel 2×2 air pump that would stop Pumping. If I gave the gear a nudge it would start again then if I stopped it with the switch it might run or not till I nudged it again. Past return period so I read comments on repairs none addresses my issue. I took unit apart and found motor did same thing without being hooked to pump. I found a DC motor 3v-12v 280 micro motor42x24mm x10mm shaft that fits exactly from SWHstore on amason. Replacing is easy remove motor and pump by removing 2 screws on top of case then with unit out remove 2 screws holding motor to pump. The nylon gear will come off shaft with pressure of a small screw driver. With motor off pump remove solder to remove lead wire. Solder on new pump to leads replace gear on new motor and reassemble motor to pump and then to case. Good as new.

Mine has lasted 3 years now and it’s going to a new owner soon. I have had to take it apart and dry it out, it got wet inside which caused it to act up for a while.

I’ve burned out two of them in 3 years. The first one worked flawlessly for almost two seasons then started acting up but the 2nd one didn’t last a summer. I’m on my 2nd year with a cheapo Bubble Box. It was handy that I could plug the Engel into my boat, but the cheapo isn’t too bad on batteries and I bought a Frabill 120V pump to hold minnows overnight.
