Empire direct vent heater

Installed the dv215 unit in my ice house as it doesn’t seem to keep the place extremely warm by any means. It heats it up ok but still a little cold. It seems to me that a lot of heat is coming out of the vent. I can put my hand over it and it is very warm. Is it normal for that much heat to be coming out of the vent on the outside of the ice house?

All vented heaters lose a considerable amount of heat to the outside. I have the Empire DV215 unit in my 6.5×12 house and was originally unimpressed with its performance as well. I opted to add the blower kit (DVB-1) and have been very satisfied since. My recommendation for you is to make sure you have decent circulation within your house.

They’re very low efficiency – adding a blower will help for sure. A power vent system or an RV type forced air furnace have greater efficiency than the direct vent models
